Agnes’ Story

AgnesAgnes is a single mom who is currently providing care for some 18 children ranging in ages from 4 to 24.  Agnes has dedicated her life to serving her “needies,” orphaned and abandoned children of the Volta region in Ghana.  With no support available from government or other agencies, these children would be lost were in not for Agnes.  In faith, she stepped in to ensure they are safe and cared for. Our project—”A Home for Agnes”—will build a facility where Agnes and her children can live together.

Her story is remarkable.  Orphaned herself shortly after birth, Agnes was saved from a life on the streets by her grandmother, who raised her.  In 1987, Agnes became the first woman admitted to Bible College in Ghana.  She then established the Living Faith Foundation, which exists to see every child receive the love, care and the opportunity for education that he or she deserves.  Eleven times, Agnes applied to purchase the property she needed to establish a school for orphaned children. Eleven times, her request was denied.  Refusing to give in, Agnes made her 12th attempt and was finally granted permission; she purchased the land to establish the Living Faith Foundation Preparatory School, where education is provided to 150 children who otherwise could not afford to go to school.  Currently, through the Living Faith Foundation, work is underway to build an orphanage for 50 children in Santrokofi, Agnes’ hometown. She will oversee the operation of this home.
